Evan Philips Rotary Club of Footscray Scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Footscray and the Philip’s family, the Evan Philips Scholarship has been developed to provide assistance to young disadvantaged Australians by giving them ‘a hand up, not a hand out’, and helping them reach their full potential.  

The Evan Philip Scholarship is open to apprentices and trainees who reside in Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Wyndham, and Melton Councils.

To be eligible for the Evan Philip Scholarship, apprentices and trainees need to have been employed for a period of six months, be up to date with studies, have excellent attendance, and be supported by their Employer Partner to be nominated, along with meeting at least one of the below selection criteria:

•         Financial hardship

•         A disability as defined in Equal Opportunity Act

•         Indigenous/Torres Strait Islander

•         From a non-English speaking background

Samantha Sophia Ramsey Memorial Award

In memory of Samantha Sophia Ramsey, the late daughter of the FutureGen Foundation Director Sophie Ramsey, the national award celebrates the achievements and potential of a young person with a disability or experiencing financial hardship, aiming to honour and recognize their dedication and outstanding achievements and in training, education or employment. The award recipient will receive a one-off $2000.00 grant to contribute to TAFE or RTO fees to advance their education and employment opportunities. 

The Annual Samantha Sophia Ramsey Memorial Award is currently closed.

Scholarships

FutureGen offer merit-based scholarships to recognise excellence and leadership. We tailor each industry specific scholarship program in collaboration with our network of employment partners. 

Recipients of merit-based scholarships must demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and outstanding abilities, leadership or contributions to the community.

Tailored Scholarships provide: 

  • International industry education tours 

  • National industry education tours 

  • Allowance for purchasing of tools and equipment

  • Ambassadorships

  • Networking and career advancement opportunities

 LSH Auto Australia

FutureGen partners with LSH to offer the LSH Auto Australia International Scholarship Program.

LSH apprentices travel to the United States to see first-hand how operations in varying and differing environments impact workplace training and skills development.

Whilst international borders remain closed in 2021, scholarship recipients will receive exclusive apprentice ambassadorship training and $3,000 to purchase top of the line tools of their trade.

Fearghus Von Prott

Fearghus Von Prott

Light Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice Fearghus Von Prott was awarded a scholarship trip to the United States, where he visited automotive dealerships and manufacturers.

While in Kentucky and California, Fearghus gained exposure to how Mercedes-Benz operates internationally—knowledge that he was able to share with his colleagues at Mercedes-Benz Sydney.

Megan Chetcuti

New South Wales based, Heavy Vehicle apprentice Megan Chetcuti scooped a $3,000 career development grant to assist her in buying the essential tools of the trade.

Megan used the money to assist her in buying the essential tools of the trade.

Once I got into the workshop and began working with trucks, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I love the tech and computerisation of the engines. A basic kit costs about $2,000, and you have to keep upgrading it to have everything you need as a fully qualified truck mechanic.
